The Myerson Elastic Mandibular Advancement (EMA) appliance is a simple, patient-friendly oral appliance created for non-invasive treatment of snoring and OSA. The design is brilliantly simple, extremely stable and allows patient self-adjustment with interchangeable elastic straps.

The EMA is formed from a dental impression and fits like a retainer. The primary treatment mechanism of opening the bite and gently moving the lower jaw (mandible) forward is achieved with the use of bite pads and the interchangeable elastic straps. Different elastic straps offer varying degrees of lower jaw advancement. This positioning of the lower jaw causes a forward movement of the tongue, therefore making the airway larger and preventing obstructive sleep apnea. The flexibility of the elastic straps provides unsurpassed lateral movement and overall comfort.

Additionally, because the straps offer varying degrees of elasticity, they allow for the jaw to move in all directions while moving the jaw forward into the desired position. This freedom of movement of the mandible significantly reduces the occurrence of joint complications and discomfort/pain associated with other appliances available in the market.
